Release Notes – September 2024

Welcome to our September release notes! We’re constantly enhancing our platform to deliver the best experience for our users and streamline the CDP tools you rely on. This month, we’re excited to introduce several new updates and improvements designed to make your workflows more efficient. In this release, we’ll walk you through some key feature additions and enhancements, including:

Let’s dive in to explore these features.

Introducing transactional journey

A transactional journey is particularly useful when a single user performs different transactions of the same journey. Unlike a workflow-based journey, which allows only one entry to the journey per user at a time, a transactional journey processes each flow separately, ensuring every transaction is acknowledged.

For example, in a workflow journey, if a user books a flight and receives an email with their booking confirmation, the journey flow ends after the email is sent. If the same user books another flight, let’s say a return flight, before the first journey flow completes, they won’t receive a second confirmation email, as workflow journeys don’t allow re-entry until the first one finishes.

In contrast, a transactional journey runs on a unique attribute of the event, like a transaction ID or booking ID. If the user books multiple flights, a transactional journey will trigger independent flows for each booking. Each flight booking, identified by its unique booking ID, will get its own confirmation and follow-up emails, ensuring all bookings are processed and acknowledged separately. This allows the user to enter the same journey multiple times without overlap.

For a step-by-step tutorial on creating a transactional journey, kindly check out our documentation, “How to create a transactional journey.”

Introducing user profile merging without unique identifier

The profile merging feature in NotifyVisitors allows you to consolidate multiple user profiles into a single, unified profile, even without a unique identifier.

If you’re unfamiliar with the term “unique identifier,” it refers to a specific data point used to uniquely identify users—such as a phone number, email address, or a custom identifier. In NotifyVisitors, under Settings > Users, you can choose one unique identifier, but this can only be set once.

Introducing user profile merging without unique identifier

Example: Using phone number as a unique identifier

If you select the phone number as your unique identifier, it becomes mandatory to include this field in all lead forms. And it will also be mandatory for users to fill in the phone number field. For example, if a user submits a form with just their phone number and name, a profile is created. The next time the same user submits their phone number along with an email address on another form, the system will recognize the phone number and update the existing profile with the new email address, rather than creating a duplicate profile.

How profile merging works

When the Profile Merging feature is enabled, the unique identifier is no longer required to merge profiles. The system automatically merges profiles based on multiple attributes like phone number, email address, or user ID.

For instance, if your unique identifier is set to the phone number but you create a lead form that does not require this field, the system can still merge profiles. Let’s say a user submits a form with just their email address and a profile is created. Later, the same user fills out a different form, providing their name, email, age, and address. The system will recognize the matching email address and update the existing profile with the additional information, even without the phone number.

How to enable profile merging

To enable this feature, simply go to Settings > Users and then, under the “User Identifier” tab, turn on the Profile Merging option. Once enabled, this option cannot be turned off.

Note: When using the lead form with “Profile Merging” turned on, the unique identifier field is optional. However, you still need to map at least one field to a phone number, email address, or user ID to manage profiles effectively.

InviteReferrals integration with NotifyVisitors

We are excited to announce that we have integrated InviteReferrals (a referral and loyalty program software) with NotifyVisitors. This integration allows for seamless data synchronization between InviteReferrals and NotifyVisitors.

For instance, a business can transfer user data from InviteReferrals to NotifyVisitors to promote their referral program across various broadcast channels—such as email, SMS, WhatsApp, and push notifications.

To link your InviteReferrals account with NotifyVisitors, simply log in to both platforms or create a new account if you haven’t registered on any of the two platforms.

Next, in your InviteReferrals dashboard, navigate to settings, then integration. Click on the CRM tab, and you’ll find NotifyVisitors among the options.
